Michael Malis and Denzel Donald -- "What's Going On" Recomposed

SIdewalk Festival, Detroit MI
www.sidewalkdetroit.com

In response to Sidewalk Festival’s theme this year of “Peace Power Utopia,” I’ll be presenting a creative recomposition of Marvin Gaye’s classic “What’s Going On.” Featuring samples from the original merged with newly composed material, this piece will fall somewhere between a remix and an art song, bringing the poignancy of the original into conversation with current social ails.

Michael Malis — piano, electronics, composition
Denzel Donald — tenor (vocalist)
