Gnostikos

Gnostikos takes its name from the ancient Greek concept of "gnossis:" the idea that knowledge is a diffuse, wide ranging phenomenon; that there are many ways of knowing, and that knowing is inherently experiential and experimental. As an ensemble, Gnostikos works toward embodying that ethos by employing a decentralized approach to music making. Ranging from strictly notated material to free improvisation, and utilizing techniques such as graphic notation, divination, and systems composition, Gnostikos uses a variety of tools to create a far reaching and open ended sound.
